We are really excited by a fantastic opportunity that has been asked of us by Speldhurst School. They are looking for a team of people to go in once a week during a lunchtime and offer the children a space for prayer.
We are going to be using the model by 24/7 prayer where the children are offered a space enabling them to explore life’s questions, spirituality and faith in a safe, creative and interactive way.
This will be running on a Monday from 12pm till 1pm. Each week will require 2 people to deliver a prepared activity (see the example at the end of this post
You will then need to display the prayers in the school hall for everyone to see. We are looking for a team who could be on a rota to run these sessions. You will need to be a committed Christian who is passionate about encouraging children to pray. You will need to have a Church DBS, safeguarding and will need to attend a small training session. If you are interested and would like to know more please contact Kelly Kyte on xxxx@xxxx.xxx
I look forward to hearing from you.
Example prayer activity
Thankful Board
Equipment: A pin board/ memo board, pins, magazines and pictures
Set up: Have the magazines and pictures to hand somewhere near your pin board
Instructions
- The Bible says ‘give thanks in all circumstances’.
- Thankfulness begins with recognising goodness and beauty in people and in the world around us.
- Think of 5 things that you are thankful for today.
Try to find images in the magazines or online to represent those 5 things, cut them out and pin them to your Thankful Board. Take a moment to thank God for them.
